Add adjustment layer to "New Item"

gurgles what Excalibur version do you use? I tried to make it more stable in v1.1.1

Sir_Ivan I'm using the latest version (1.1.2) and sill no luck with getting adjustment layers to create.

gurgles I had an observation recently that add Adjustment layer won't work if you have a timeline detached from main window (e.g. you use 2 monitor setup). Is it the case?

Sir_Ivan That's it! If I'm in a single window screen and I use one one of the default workspaces (non custom) then the adjustment layer is created in the project panel and populates within the sequence. If I use a custom workspace on a single monitor it halfway works. It's created in the project panel but doesn't populate in the sequence I currently have open. Nothing happens in a 2 monitor custom workspace.

Sir_Ivan Yes! It just worked as soon as I moved the project panel into the same window/monitor as the active sequence!

Yes. I just tried New Item > Adjustment Layer and it looks like the command tries to do something. It highlights the project panel and highlights the top bin but the stops there. No adjustment layer created and no placement in the active sequence.

gurgles and if you move project panel to the same window where your timeline is, I presume it will work.
This is an unexpected problem on Windows, layout affects command execution and I think it won't be fixed until I rewrite the search bar.

I guess until a new version is released, I'll just work with the project panel and sequences in the same window for now.

gurgles new version will take time. I will release minor updates, but to rewrite the search bar I need to learn new language 😅

I have the same problem with new adjustment layer. The focus changes to the project panel, selects the top item there and acts like the return key was pressed because I can now change the name of the top item.
I work with a laptop with a second monitor.
If only I could make PPro focus on the timeline panel instead of the project panel, maybe that would work?

Yes, the timeline panel is on my laptopscreen and the Project panel is on my secondary monitor.
New items like transparant video, black video, color matte etc... work just fine.

Blikopener other items work fine because they are created though Premiere API only. Adjustment layer is created through mix of API and UI automation. There is a problem on Windows when users have split Project and Timeline panel (so they are not part of one main window).
For testing purposes if you will put both panels in one main window, will New Item > Adjustment Layer work?
