It would be great to be able to type in the name of any media file and choose to insert or overwrite into the current sequence at playhead, or even just open it in the source monitor!
Thank you Ivan!
Feature to insert/overwrite any media
Interesting idea. So you would like to be able to find any media name in the searchbar, right? And after that be able to make action with that media.
Yeah exactly, that would be an amazing feature, for my workflow at least!
Sir_Ivan That would be perfect! I created a post today asking for this feature because I didn't find this one earlier.
Being able to do that would be insane! I have a library with sfx and vfx that I use in every single project I work.
Imagine if we could search the name of the clip (that's already inside the project bin) and place it exactly at the playhead. That would allows us to create the shortcuts for using those clips every time we need.
We can achieve this in Windows PC with auto hot key scripts, but not for Mac Os. Pleeease include that if you can!

I am working on a project right now and can't stop thinking about this feature. Assuming that it's possible to implement, I am antecipating another issue.
We have the "source patching for inserts and overwrites", right? This means that if we execute the command 2 times, the clip will overwrite the other. Soooo, it would be nice to have the inserted clip to be automatically moved to another track so we don't have to do it manually.

gabrielx320 Not a fix for your problem but a possible option to look at: https://github.com/dcmouser/jrPremiere/tree/main/SoundFxAdder
You can see it in action and evaluate it yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9b_Wq-MzTb8&list=PLUuYfoWEBEMXaHMq323R07pwJ7bAAztgi&ab_channel=CO-OPFORTWO
NLE_Ninja Thanks for sharing this with me! This extension can be helpful in some cases, but for my editing workflow I need something that I can do "on the go". Specially because I use a lot of different sound effects for the same thing (in my case, death sfx for players, some risers, pops, wooshes, etc) so searching for the file in the bin is crucial for me.
If Ivan can implement in Excalibur, that would be helpeful not only for sfx, but any type of media as well.
gabrielx320 No problem and I wholeheartedly agree with your feature request as Excalibur has been a must have timesaver for 2 years. I wonder if in the meantime Keyboard Maestro for Mac might be able to help. I'm not sure if the macros on there compare to AHK but it's a potential band-aid for your workflow.
NLE_Ninja Never heard before. I am watching some videos right now! It seems very similar to what I used to use in Windows a while ago. I will give it a try. Thanks so much man! =)
gabrielx320 No problem and kudos for using AltTab app. You are probably the only person beside myself who uses that on a Mac

NLE_Ninja I forgot I recorded a video and was thinking how did you hack me and saw it hahahaha
Yeah man, the AltTab app is a must have for me. Maybe we're too nerdy but I don't care, organization is key hahaha
NLE_Ninja Just came here to give a big thanks to you. Keyboard Maestro is working exactly like the AHK scripts and it's so much more intuitive.
I was able to recreate the ahk behavior. It goes to the sfx bin, search for the sfx, drag and drop into the timeline, select the inserted clip and move up one track. PERFECT! And I am already linking the shortcuts to the stream deck. https://youtu.be/WIVRZl3dfaI
The only down side is that it's paid.
Still, it would be easier if we could just use in the excalibur search bar to insert any type of media from the premiere bins.
gabrielx320 great note about insert/overwrite track conflict! Hopefully something like that could appear this year.
gabrielx320 That's awesome. My bad for not mentioning the $36 price tag but it's worth the investment. Happy you were able to recreate it on KM. I agree with you on the Excalibur being able to do that or even another extension when Sir Ivan has the time.
Just a heads up that such a feature in Excalibur would be awesome!! I have a few sound FX which I have to apply repeatedly during my editing, and I would love to streamline the process with excalibur! I know I could probably get around by making a AHK script or so and so, but I would like a "not too hacky" solution
Flebuz Wait for Quiver and you'll be amazed
(BTW, thanks for yer awesome work my good sir !!)
