Profile switching

USER: Ability to switch profiles in Excalibur. E.g: color profile, editing, audio. Each one will have different set of shortcuts.

This might be a little niche, but would it be possible to switch out keyboard layout presets within excalibur?

I've got a lot of Premiere Pro shortcuts mapped out alrerady and I'm running out of room to map any excalibur presets. Thought it might be cool if I could have one keyboard layout dedicated to some baisic Premiere functions and a lot of excalibur presets, and the excalibur presets could switch to the other layout for some of the Premiere functions and then switch back to the excalibur keyboard preset.

I would love to add such functionality in future versions of Excalibur!

That's a great idea. It would mean you could remap most of your keys to being on the home row for many more operations. Would need to spend a week rethinking my shortcuts, but would ultimately be great!

I think that is one of the things I want most (desperately), since we are only allowed to use shortcuts with at least Ctrl or Alt pressed and we can't use a second keyboard. I prefer having a second profile to switch and use some shortcuts than having to press Ctrl+Alt+Shift (and trying to remember which is which, since random letters are not so easy to remember like numbers and arrows)

Hi! I would like to propose couple improvements if they're possible of course. So when you add keyboard shortcut to some function in premiere you don't have access to this shortcut when you are writing something, but with excalibur unfortunatelly this function is available when you are writing something. Second thing is opportunity to disable all your keyboard shortcuts in excalibur when you don't need them. Thrid thing (most important of all) is different profiles for example in premiere pro you can have different workspace layouts and the same thing would be awesome to have in excalibur but with keyboard shortcuts because then you can have multiple functions add to the same shortcut but when you are on specific profile you are using only one function so there won;t be any collisions.

Maryl I just merged this into Profile switching post.
I think #2 (disable Excalibur shortcuts) could be achieved with profile switching idea as well, just create an empty profile.

#1 (Excalibur works when text input is active) – this one is a current limitation. Because of the way how Premiere Pro is built I can not know if text input is active or not, hence the problem. At some point I will try to minimise it (I think save dialog box could be excluded also some other pop up boxes).
