USER: in Avid we use the timecode effect - gives access to source clip & sequence bin metadata, including custom columns plus a ‘text entry’ box in the effect itself.
So typically the ‘auto slate’ effect (ie a saved timecode effect preset) uses:
Sequence name (sequence bin column)
Current timecode (visual check that sequence starts at 09595900)
Duration: (custom bin column - rather than seq dur or in-out)
Out words: (custom bin column)
TapeID (cos that’s the clip name when it gets to EVS)
Modified time (sequence bin column)
Added bonus is you can then see & adjust that info in the sequence bin
