Many times after I import something in a hurry and start working with it, I find myself going, “Darn-it! I should have ingested it for smooth playback.” A lot of the time it’s because I thought ingest was turned on but it wasn’t. Now I have a sequence full of clips and no way to convert them
In Avid Media Composer all I would need to do is select the source clips and transcode them. Done! The whole timeline now links to the new media.
In Premiere you’re only apparent choice is to reimport it and them match up what you used. And that could prove to be very tedious.
It would be great to be able to select a bunch of clips and simply right-click and choose “Ingest” and they get replaced in the bin and in my sequence.
