Pancake timeline copy/paste?

I've scoured through all the commands and either I'm blind or just looking in all the wrong places.

I'm using the pancake timeline setup (one timeline stacked on top of the other) and am trying to come up with a command sequence that will allow me to select a clip on the lower timeline (my raw footage timeline) and automatically copy and paste it at the playhead on the above timeline, which is my main project. I want it to then return focus to the raw footage timeline so I can zip along.

Is this even possible? I remember a few years ago seeing a convoluted AHK script that attempted to do this, but it was dependent on the pixel coordinates of the mouse and panels and that was more than I was willing to do.

What you can do now is to create this user command:

Keyboard Shortcut: Select clips at playhead
Keyboard Shortcut: Copy
Keyboard Shortcut: Timelines (this will switch to another timeline, like alt+tab)
Paste (you can decide which option to choose, same track, upper/lower)
Keyboard Shortcut: Timelines (to get back)

The only downside is that you can only have 2 active timelines at one moment.

Oh my goodness, that's perfect! Timelines was the command I didn't realize that that's what that was. In operation, this makes assembling a rough cut ridiculously fast.

Apologies if you've posted it elsewhere, but is there a quick way to export a list of all the user commands I've assigned within Excalibur? They are enough now that I'm needing to print a cheat sheet to remind me what I've made!

VicDiGital Aside from the .json file, screenshot-ing sections of the Excalibur tends to be my go to.

Well, you could also open the first sequence in your SOURCE monitor (by dragging it from your project panel to the Source panel), press the wrench icon and select "Open sequence in Timeline. This way, you have a sequence open in the SOURCE panel. Yes, read this last sentence again! The CTI in this timeline is now red instead of blue to quickly differentiate between a normal timeline.
The other timeline is displayed in the program monitor.
Now you can use insert and overwrite from one timeline to another by specifying and in and out point in the first timeline (Source) and paste it into the second timeline (Program).

I use keyboard shortcuts to do this quickly. I use it all the time.

If you, after you used insert or overwrite, want to automatically go back to the source timeline, without clicking on it, you have to set something in your preferences:
go to Preferences -> timeline: now UNCHECK "Set focus on the Timeline when performing Insert/Overwrite edits".

Blikopener I knew there was a setting I was missing when doing that. I will remember to uncheck "Set focus on the Timeline" in the preferences.
