Colored Marker Creation... less arrow keying.

Current iteration of the add markers pop-up is as follows...

Bring up Exc.
Type "a m c"
Type the name of my marker
ARROW KEY DOWN
ARROW KEY DOWN
ARROW KEY DOWN
ARROW KEY DOWN
ARROW KEY DOWN

until I get to the marker color my choice.

Would love to be able to just like tab or something and then start typing the first letter of the marker, which would then filter the list down so I could just type "c" and then enter to make a cyan marker. Make sense? Currently no way to select colors without arrowing down, which is too many keystrokes. 🙂

Of course I can add search bar inside marker command. The question will be what is more important: search bar or marker name field?

Or maybe it is better to give possibility to use cmd+1, cmd+2, etc shortcuts to access specific item? Same way as in other search bar tools?

Better to be able to name it for sure, but after the name has been chosen, I think we need a way to re-engage the search bar. I propose TAB be the key for that. So I'd cue up the command with "a c e" then "A01" then TAB and then "cy" to get to Cyan then ENTER to create the marker. The cmd+1, 2, 3 keys could also work, but I think it'd be faster and more intuitive to just start typing the first letter of the color you want.

Also... It would be awesome if we could send user input into the text of the marker, or at least pull Excalibur back up to ask for input when the command is bound to a key. Currently if I bind a keyboard shortcut to make a marker for the selected clip and don't set a name in the field, it just makes a green/red/blue/etc marker for the duration without a title. Ideally, I'd like to have it create the duration-based marker, but ask me for input on what to call it. It would also be great to have a shortcut that would just use whatever the last input was for this. So if I'm tagging takes of a script, and they do two of the same line in a row, I could tag both of them back to back. I currently have Keyboard Maestro scripts for all of this, but it'd probably be a a second or two faster with Excalibur (which, when you have 6 hours of content to tag, a few seconds can turn into many minutes... or many hours over the course of a few jobs).

adamjrichman You can bind shortcut to "Add market to clip" command (not user command) and it will show you input window.
But as I understand you have a user command, that has predefined marker color and you want to be able to add input. This will be possible in a future!
