Wipe bin / delete unlinked

Hey,

For our in-office workflow we have one input folder with files that are added/deleted daily. Obviously this has made Watchtower extremely helpful so thanks for such a great tool.

However, once those files or sub-folders are deleted I end up with an increasing stack of unlinked items in the bin.

I'd really appreciate either an option to allow automatic deleting of unlinked clips from synced bins, or the option to gain a 4th icon that will allow me to wipe and reload all synced bins.

Colloquial interesting, though I don't want to add to Watchtower anything that deletes files from Premiere Pro (safety wise).

What if you just create a search bin with Offline Properties set to "Video" (also you can use "Audio" or "Audio and Video")? This way you will have all clips listed in a search bin dynamically and it will be easier to delete them.

I can understand that. Don't want people losing their work! I may just look into how to make an extension!

Annoyingly search bins do not allow you to delete clips, so it'd be handy to find those solo offline clips in a project, but not for wiping out multiple files.

Oh, indeed it is not possible to delete media in search bins.

Not yet! It's on the list once I get a macropad/streamdeck.

I assume I'd be able to set a shortcut for this action?

Colloquial Not right away, but I thought that I can write a simple .jsx script for you, that deletes all offline media inside a project, which you will be able to run with Execute Script command in Excalibur (and it will be possible to assign shortcut for that).
Of course it is possible to have another launcher for this script, I think there are some free extensions online.

Thank you, that's very kind! The execute script function sounds brilliant.

I do know React semi-well, so may dig into ExtendScript and finally try to learn a bit.... I just wish there was better documentation!

If you have coding experience that should be relatively easy for you. Extendscript is javascript but very old, 3rd edition of ecma-262, so no arrow functions and other fancy stuff.
